FAQs

1. How often should I have my house painted?
Usually every 5-7 years is necessary to maintain the exterior surfaces in like-new condition. Yearly pressure washing will prolong the life of a paint job by removing dirt, bugs and molds.

2. How often should I have my deck stained?
Yearly staining is suggested to keep wood decks in good condition in the dry climate of central Oregon. Annual maintenance such as pressure washing and cleaning debris from gaps between boards will help to keep a deck looking new.

3. How can I avoid sun fading on the west and south side of my house?
This is a typical problem in Central Oregon. Lighter colored paints or stains fade less than dark paints or stains. A sheen in the paint, such as eggshell or satin, will reflect sunlight and avoid fading. Using a high quality paint with UV protection is critical.

4. How long does it take to paint a house?
Depending on size and complexity of the job, usually one to two weeks.

5. Which is better, stain or paint?
This is purely an aesthetic choice. The new latex stains can allow the grain texture to show beautifully on cedar siding and are self-priming. However, properly applied paint resists fading better because it contains more concentrated pigment.

6. Do you offer environmentally friendly products?
Yes, and there are many options now depending on the situation. Andy prefers using low or zero VOC paints (paints that have low amounts of Volatile Organic Compounds) on interiors which is safer for everyone, homeowner and painter.
